Anodizing is the forced oxidation of aluminum using sulfuric acid for a controlled time and direct current to open the pores of the aluminum, and then introduces a dye that becomes a component of the aluminum. By applying an anodized resist using a stencil or screen, colors can be selectively dyed into the material to create one or more anodized colors on the product.

Color: Most colors can be used in this process, although repeatability is difficult because the parts are dyed, not painted or printed. Certain colors, such as yellow, look more golden than yellow when anodized. Additional tolerance must be allowed when matching custom colors.

To explain, the anodizing process deposits ink into the open pores of anodized aluminum. Then, in a second operation, the pores are closed with a transparent sapphire-hard anodized layer. So protect your prints from abrasion, harsh chemicals, paint and dirt. This layer is not a coating applied to the surface. It is the actual part of aluminum, made by an anodizing process. Therefore, it will never peel, fade, peel or crack.
